What is BLOKpower?
BLOKpower is designed to improve your anaerobic performance, bulletproof your joints and help you feel your strongest. This class focuses on increasing your body’s ability to move at it’s top-end of intensity. You will work through short, maximal-effort bursts of power and plyometric movements, paired with with longer, active recovery strength movements.
This combination increases your ability to recover whilst working at higher efforts, helping to increase power, agility, speed and cardiovascular fitness.
Where can I do it?
BLOKpower is available across all BLOK sites. It takes place in Studio 3 at every site.
What kind of movements & equipment does BLOKpower use?
The class focuses on plyometric and power-based exercises - think explosive exercises that challenge direction, height, and force. You'll build strength and resilience against impact from all angles, and strengthen your tendons and ligaments against external stress.
BLOKpower uses a range of equipment from your own bodyweight, to free weights (dumbbells/kettlebells) and other functional equipment, like plyo boxes and hurdles. Our Clapton site also has Ski-Ergs.
Do all trainers follow the same programme?
BLOKpower follows a set class structure designed to deliver specific training results. While all trainers adhere to this structure, they have the freedom to programme the individual movements. This ensures a consistent training effect across all classes, while allowing each trainer to bring their own energy and style.
How is BLOKpower different to BLOKfit?
Both classes will improve your cardiovascular fitness, but they target different systems:
- BLOKfit - builds endurance and stamina, working at 65-75% of your max effort with longer sets and shorter rest periods
- BLOKpower - trains explosive output and athletic performance (speed, agility and functional strength) pushing you to 90-95% of your max effort in short bursts (20-30 seconds), with longer rest between sets
It's about intensity, power and recovery - not just getting through reps.
Is BLOKpower suitable for people with pregnancy/limitations?
We advise against pre and post-natal people attending BLOKpower. This is due to it’s high intensity, plyometric and rotational movements. You can read more in our Pregnancy Policy
If you have an injury or a limitation you're comfortable adapting for - and have been cleared by a medical professional - you are welcome to attend BLOKpower. Please arrive to class at least 5 mins early to discuss potential modifications with your trainer.
When can I attend BLOKpower classes?
We are launching BLOKpower with a limited number of classes per week, as we want to ensure customers give themselves ample of time to rest and recover between classes.
We'll increase the number of classes as demand grows, and customer become more familiar with the format.
You can view all BLOKpower classes on the BLOK app or on the class schedule on our website.
Is BLOKpower suitable for beginners?
Yes, BLOKpower is suitable for beginners as all movements can be adapted for different abilities. That said, BLOKpower is very high-intensity class. If you're new to training, we recommend spending 4–6 weeks building a base level of fitness and confidence with foundational movements by attending classes like BLOKstrength, BLOKsculpt, or BLOKfit first.
Is BLOKpower integrated into BLOK Plans?
Yes. You can find BLOKpower in some of our plans - the 'Total Conditioning' and 'Marathon' Plans in particular.
Your Plan will show you which class types best support your goals, and how to combine them over the week for best results.
What footwear should I wear to BLOKpower?
For BLOKpower, it’s important to wear proper training shoes with a supportive sole. These shoes should provide stability and grip to safely perform dynamic, functional movements like jumps, lifts, and quick direction changes. For your safety, you won’t be able to take part in the class without appropriate footwear.
What other BLOK classes are best to combine with BLOKpower?
To get the most out of BLOKpower, we recommend balancing it with a mix of strength training, mobility work, and recovery. Combining BLOKpower with classes like BLOKstrength, BLOKsculpt, or yoga can help you build strength, improve flexibility, and support recovery. Adding a weekly HOT + COLD session is also a great way to aid recovery and enhance performance.
